John Hart
John was a great guy, full of fun and laughter and I so enjoyed his company.
I first met John when I was transferred to the City with Barclays in the late Seventies and John was part of the crowd who met regularly in the various bars around the City. John was always on good form and great fun. On one occasion he managed to smuggled me onto the floor of The Stock Exchange (something strictly forbidden on pain of being debagged if caught- that’s how it was in those days!).
For a period at Stock Exchange branch I looked after John as his bank manager. John regularly came in to the bank late morning for business purposes and our cashiers somehow seemed to get to know him very quickly! That led to regular shouts to me from my cashiers “Mr Earthrowl is in today!!”, which inevitably meant popping out for a quick drink: almost always not returning until around mid-afternoon, such was his fabulous company.
The world is a sadder place without him.
